All of Penrose’s electronic resources (journal articles, e-books, streaming films, etc.) are available to students studying away from Whitman. To ensure access, search through Sherlock, or go to databases directly on the A-Z list, where you will be prompted to sign in with your Whitman credentials.
There are materials we don’t have access to, but can get through Interlibrary Loan(ILL). Journal articles and scans of book chapters can be delivered to you electronically in a day or two. We can also scan chapters of books from our collection to deliver to you, via a book chapter request in ILL. We would not be able to send you physical books, and we can only digitize at most 10% of a book. We cannot borrow eBooks from other institutions.
If you have any questions or need help with your research, Penrose Librarians are available to help, we may be able to have a zoom reference meeting as well, time zones permitting. You can send in a question.
You should also look into library access at your host institution, as you likely will have access to their physical collections and potentially access to interlibrary loan or other borrowing programs.
