How long can I check out a book?

Below are the loan periods each type of patron can expect for each type of item. This information can be found in a table at the bottom of the document.

Whitman Student

Whitman students can check out:

• Whitman Books and Media (DVD, CD, Vinyl, etc.) for 12 weeks and renew these items until the end of Spring semester.
• Whitman Board Games for 7 days and renew them for 14 additional days.
• Summit items for 12 weeks and renew these items for 6 additional weeks.
• ILL items for 6 weeks. Renewals are considered on a case by case basis.

Whitman Faculty

Whitman faculty can check out:

• Whitman Books until the end of Spring semester. Items are renewed automatically for an additional year during Spring semester.
• Whitman Media (DVD, CD, Vinyl, etc.) for 12 weeks and renew them.
• Whitman Board Games for 7 days and renew them for 14 additional days.
• Summit items for 12 weeks and renew these items for 6 additional weeks.
• ILL items for 6 weeks. Renewals are considered on a case by case basis.

Whitman Staff

Whitman Staff can check out:

• Whitman Books and Media (DVD, CD, Vinyl, etc.) for 12 weeks and renew these items.
• Whitman Board Games for 7 days and renew them for 14 additional days.
• Summit items for 12 weeks and renew these items for 6 additional weeks.
• ILL items for 6 weeks. Renewals are considered on a case by case basis.

Alumni, Family & Community Members

Whitman Alumni, Family members of Whitman Faculty and Staff and Community members can check out:

• Whitman Books for 12 weeks and renew these items.
• Whitman Media (DVD, CD, Vinyl, etc.) for 6 weeks and renew these items for 6 additional weeks.
• Whitman Board Games for 7 days and renew them for 14 additional days.

Requesting Summit or ILL items is not available for Alumni, Family or Community members.
